Martin Kolb (1680-1761) (arrival 1707)
Our Ancestors in America: Martin Kolb
Representing the 2nd Generation
Martin Kolb was born in 1680 in Germany. He came to America in 1707 and settled at Germantown. He married Magdalena Van Sintern, daughter of Isaac Van Sintern and Neeltje Sintern (nee Classen) and great-great-grand-daughter of Jan de Voss, Burgomaster in Flanders in 1550*. He moved to Skippack (then Bebberstown) in 1709 and was ordained to the ministry of the Mennonite faith, serving at Germantown and Skippack. On the deed of the Mennonite Church at Germantown, his signature appears as a witness. He was one of the first trustees of the Mennonite congregation at Skippack. His death occurred in 1761.
